The academic year started with orientation assemblies for every section. These gatherings included the parents of all the students as well and were meant to serve as an appropriate introduction to the academic year and gave pointers on every aspect of the school’s working.
The 13th June 2015, set the doors open for another new academic year, at Dr. Pillai Global Academy, New Panvel. The orientation programme for parents and students of grades 1 to 12 was held on 13th June 2015. The event started with a prayer and a dance hailing the almighty, followed by an enthusiastic and a rejuvenating welcome song, composed and presented by the teachers of DPGA.
Starting at 9:30 am, the event went on for two hours, keeping the audience abreast about the plans for the next academic year. The school’s principal Ms. Anjna Sahi,set the mood right for the new year, through her well-crafted presentation on” Child-centric education” and “ Holistic development”. Heads of different departments spoke about ways of developing different aspects of “Sarvangik Vikas” or all- round development, (i.e – bahu balam, buddhi balam and atma balam), in students.
The event proceeded with the introduction of the section heads, teachers, admin staff and support staff by the school Coordinator, Ms. Shraddha Sardesai.This was followed by the felicitation of school toppers in Checkpoint and IGCSE examination.
The event culminated with a “Vote of thanks” proposed by Ms. Shraddha Sardesai. In all, the event was a grand success.
The Orientation Programme and Special Assembly for Grades 1 – 12 at DPGA, New Panvel.
The new session (2014-2015) at DPGA, New Panvel, commenced with the Orientation of the parents and students in the school auditorium on 14th June, 2014.
The programme initiated with a prayer and lighting of the lamp, symbolizing a fresh dawn that spreads the light of wisdom and warmth in our hearts. This was followed by a brief welcome assembly presented by the teachers and the Principal’s address.
Ms Anjna Sahi, the Principal, focused on the child- centric ideology being followed at DPGA in her address to the parents. She discussed the three Learner Attributes – Bahu Balam (Physical Wellness), Buddhi Balam (Intellectual Development) and Atma Balam (Strength of Our Consciousness) followed by the significance of the nine components which are parts of these.
These components were further addressed in detail by different teachers who discussed the activities that would help in the overall development of the child: academic, social and emotional. Through these aspects the parents were introduced to various important policies of the school: discipline, assessment, language and communication, etc.
The Coordinators, Section Heads, Heads of Departments and the faculty members were introduced to the parents followed by the introduction of the admin team and the sub – staff in the school.
There was a felicitation of the 9th grade students to celebrate their success in the Checkpoint Exam.
Some of the senior students were also appreciated for procuring admissions in well – known universities abroad. Ms Anjna Sahi congratulated Ms Deepali Patkar, a faculty member at DPGA, for her outstanding achievement in the field of Art.
The programme concluded with the school song and the national anthem after which parents dispersed to collect books, stationery and uniforms for their wards.
Students of Grades 1-10 and IB2 started their year with an Orientation assembly on 15th June, 2013. The Early Years had their assembly on 22nd June, 2013. During each gathering, the teachers introduced themselves and all departments outlined the gist of the subjects that come under their purview and the policies followed.
Students who joined IB1 and AS Level started their year with orientation sessions which threw light into their syllabus and examination patterns on the 13th July, 2013. A question answer session ensued, in which Mr. Derek Hamilton, Principal and Mr. Anjna Sahi, School Coordinator answered the queries of the parents.
All in all the assemblies proved to be a great way to start a year packed with exciting academic and non academic activities.
