The DPGA business Fest CORPRISE was held on October 5 in which students from Grades 9, 10 and 11 (IBDP1) collaborated to come up with business ideas to address global issues such as food insecurity and wastage, energy conservation and use of green energy and sustainable ways of living.
The business concepts were founded to bring awareness of the limited resources available and the necessity for resource recycling. Each company concept was to be based on one of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals.
The fest was a CAS initiative by the IBDP1 students for their juniors. The handbook of CORPRISE was made available to the participants in which the details of the event were provided. IBDP 1 students became mentors to the participating teams. The main idea was to come up with a business idea based on any one given theme and present the idea before a panel of judges. The judges announced the awards based on various criteria such as “best sustainable idea”, “best marketing”,“critic award”,” angels’ choice” and many more.
The panel of judges included seasoned entrepreneurs from successful business ventures as well as school graduates. The students learned the perfect way to pitch their ideas and raise fundings alongside developing negotiation skills and forming ideal business.
The teams were set to open their novice startups with a plethora of business ideas ranging from making mannequins to setting up EV charging stations. The teams guided by the mentors reaped investments in huge sums impressing the panel. The event was a platform to showcase business acumen highlighting traits like creativity, research and team management.
This enriching experience enabled the students to broaden their horizon and stride confidently into the world of business.
