Diversity is not about how we differ. Diversity is about embracing one another’s uniqueness” – Ola Joseph

On 24th September 2015, the DPGA family magnificently embraced the uniqueness of two cultures by celebrating Eid and Ganesh Utsav together.

The day began with a special assembly on Eid–ul-Adha which started with recitation of a few verses from the Holy Quran by Salman Naik from A Level. This was followed by an insight on Islam and The Hajj (The Holy Pilgrimage) which was alternatively done by Ms. Aaisha Khot, Salman Naik and Samar Mulla from Grade 7. Students of Grade 3, 4, 5 and 7 concluded the assembly with a prayer song “Lab pe aati hai dua” composed by famous poet Allama Iqbal, who is remembered for writing the famous patriotic song, “Saare Jahan Se Achcha”. The engaging assembly conducted by students under the guidance of Ms. Aisha Khot gave everyone a glimpse of the rituals observed during Eid by Muslims all over the world and the reasons behind them.

A Grand ‘Festive Feast’ was also organized on this day to commemorate the essence of Eid-ul-Adha and Ganesh Utsav by preparing and serving traditional delicacies. The food was served lovingly in turns by teams of teachers and a few senior students. The ‘Festive Feast’ offered an opportunity to DPGA staff and students to enjoy the traditional dishes like Sheer Korma, Modak, Adu Wadi and many more, that are cooked using the traditional recipes.

This celebration enlightened everyone about a few rituals practised during the two important festivals. DPGA symbolizes international mindedness and this celebration helped the school in achieving the objective of ‘appreciation and celebration of diversity’ to a great extent.
