Inter House Debate, Recitation and Story Telling Competition

“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson.

The ability to use words effectively will enable a child to create his / her own unique identity. With this aim, Dr. Pillai Global Academy conducted the Inter House Elocution, Recitation and Quiz Competitions on 4th October, 2013. Students revelled in the joy of words while the participants from Grades 1-12 recited, narrated or argued vehemently for their causes. The competitions started at 1.30 p.m. and lasted till 3.00 p.m.

The Story Telling competition saw participation from all the houses in the Midgets and Junior category. The participants were all winners in the classroom contests held earlier during the month. The participants of the recitation Competition had chosen classics which allowed evocative rendering and transported the audience to the realm of fancy created by the beautiful words.

The Four participating houses in the Debate Competition took sides to express their views on the topic ‘Internet causes more harm than good.’ Emerald House emerged as the best debating house. Best speaker awards were given to a speaker each from the affirmative and opposition houses. Mr. Altaf Siddhiqui, staff member, moderated the debate.

Aishwarya Sridhar, a student of Grade 12 was the compere for the show and kept the spirit alive throughout. Both the judges, Mrs. Mabel Chan Pillai and Mr. Jomon Mathew presented their observations and comments for the benefit of the students.
