Orientation Programme for AS/A Levels 2019-2021

The Orientation Programme for the Cambridge AS and A Levels for the Academic Year 2019-2021 was conducted on 30th March, 2019. Ms. Padmapriya S. V., CAIE Exams Officer, welcomed the gathering and enlightened the audience with the importance of the Cambridge AS and A Levels Programme in creating lifelong learners, going beyond the formal education and training.

The Curriculum was explained in detail along with the various aspects which makes it stand out from the other educational boards. She also reiterated the importance of child centric education philosophy that the school fosters as the essence of CAIE curriculum. In addition, the subjects offered at AS and A Levels were discussed with the parents in detail.

There was a question and answer session towards the end of the Orientation where the subject teachers catered to the queries of the parents as well as the students. The Programme concluded with a vote of thanks by the speaker.

The Orientation Programme for IBDP 2019-2021

The Orientation Programme for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme for the Academic Year 2019-2021 was conducted on 30th March, 2019. Dr. Mousumee Mishra, IBDP Coordinator, welcomed the gathering and enlightened the audience with the importance of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme in creating lifelong learners, going beyond the formal education and training.

The IB Mission Statement was explained in detail along with the various aspects which makes it stand out from the other educational boards. She also reiterated the importance of child centric education philosophy that the school fosters as the essence of IB curriculum. The IB Learner Profile Attributes were also highlighted in order to make the parents as well as learners aware of the IB philosophy.

The six subject groups were discussed in detail and the learners as well as the parents were made aware about the choice of four or three subjects at Higher Level and two or three subjects at Standard Level respectively. Moreover, our IBDP Coordinator explained the central elements – CAS, Theory of Knowledge and Extended Essay – of the IB Diploma Programme. A brief introduction was given about the Internal Assessments in various subjects and conditions essentially to be fulfilled by the students for the award of Diploma.

Orientation programme of IBDP and AS students 2014-15

The Orientation programme of the IBDP and AS students along with their parents was conducted on 5th July, 2014. Ms. Shraddha Sardesai, Associate Principal and CIE Coordinator welcomed the gathering. Ms. Shameem Mulla, a senior faculty member, enlightened the audience with “Mission and Vision” of DPGA set forth by our CEO Dr. K. M. Vasudevan Pillai.

Ms. Anjna Sahi, Principal and IB Coordinator, brought out the importance of IB and Cambridge syllabus in creating lifelong learners, beyond formal education and training. The various aspects of the IB curriculum, which makes it stand out from other educational boards, were explained. She also reiterated the importance of child centric education philosophy that the school fosters as the essence of IB curriculum.

Mr. Sandeep Shinde (CAS Coordinator), Ms. Shan Liz Sanju (DP Associate Coordinator) and Ms. Padmapriya (Section Head Check point) added inputs on CAS, Extended essay and Internal assessments of IB. Raj Munot, an ex-IB student of DPGA described his experiences in IB and assured the parents that IB would bring out the best in their wards and mould them into excellent citizens.

Ms. Indu Parvathi (Section Head A Level) brought to notice of parents the prevalence of Cambridge A level curriculum in the whole world and later familiarized the audience with the education pattern of the programme.

The section heads, department heads and all faculty members were introduced to the parents.

This was followed by an entertaining lecture by Ms. Bhakti Shah of ‘Univariety’ on wisely selecting the career depending on one’s educational background and potential. Mr. Kiran Dalvi and his team from ‘Jamboree Education’ shared their knowledge about educational opportunities in India and abroad.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Vandana Puri, followed by school anthem and national anthem.
